HAYWARD — Two Hayward businesses garnered honors during the East Bay Economic Development Alliance’s sixth annual East Bay Innovation Awards competition.
The companies are Therm-x and RefleXion Medical.
Therm-x works with manufacturers, including microchip-makers Applied Materials and Intel, and helps them tackle temperature-control challenges to build smaller, faster products. It also serves clients in the alternative energy, aerospace, automotive and food industries. The company won in the advanced manufacturing category.
RefleXion Medical’s technology combines cancer imaging and radiation therapy to identify the most active areas of tumors so that they can be eradicated immediately with radiation. The treatment can lead to better results with fewer side effects. The company won in the life sciences category.
The winners were announced at a March 29 awards ceremony at the Fox Theatre in Oakland.
The two Hayward companies were among 16 finalists in eight categories selected from among more than 100 nominations.
